StockOpine’s Newsletter
We share in-depth research on companies we describe as ‘quality companies’.
Our preference for quality stocks stems from the observation that the compounders of the past typically continue to be the compounders of the future. The risk of disruption is mitigated by the strong market presence of the selected companies, ensuring a “worry-free” investing journey.
To identify and value a quality company, one must go beyond stock screening or examining historical valuation multiples. It requires understanding of the business model, unit economics, and the company’s industry position.
At StockOpine, we undertake the heavy lifting for you, dedicating hours to analyze a carefully selected company. We then deliver a comprehensive report, enabling you to grasp the business model and discern why the company is considered a quality one. We invest the time, so you can save hours.
In this post, you can gain insights into the companies we analyzed in 2023 and track their 2023 performance since our coverage.
Portfolio strategy
We are long-term investors, focusing on businesses with sustainable competitive advantages that are expected to generate above-average returns.
At StockOpine, we adopt a thorough bottom-up approach, specializing in comprehensive fundamental analysis. The companies we carefully select shall display, among others, the following attributes:
Leaders in their industries or disruptors with superior business model
Wide moat allowing them to retain margins and market position
Strong financials
If a company possesses the above attributes and the price meets our hurdle rate, we initiate a position.
As Warren Buffet said, “If a business does well, the stock eventually follows.”

About the authors
StockOpine is created by a team of two stock investors at their early 30s, who have vast experience in the financial services and asset management industries.
We both started our careers at Big4 accounting firms where we gained expertise in audit and financial advisory services.
In our careers, we analyzed a large number of financial statements, either from an audit or corporate finance perspective, performed numerous valuations, developed financial models and took financial / operational decisions considering the risks involved. We believe that the combination of our skills and the ability to work as a team gives us an edge.
We both hold professional qualifications (one holds the ACCA qualification and the other holds the ACA and CFA qualifications) and we use our experiences and knowledge to perform fundamental analysis / deep dives in order to identify stocks that fit our portfolio and have potential for sustainable returns.
